Created by myself Jan 2020, this is a signed and dated handmade original monotype print, with additional coloured pencil work. ** It is NOT a reproduction. **
The image depicts the beginnings of the formation of an Oxbow lake. Something I learned about in high school a looooong time ago, and it stuck! Apparently, the flow of the river will cut through that jutting piece of land and a lake will form with the river now finding its way round it. Of course, this could take hundreds of years!
Image size is 8″x10″ on 12″ x 16″ sheet of Stonehenge Aqua hot press watercolour paper, printed with Akua Intaglio inks and finished off with coloured pencil.
For anyone not familiar with monotypes, typically a glass or plastic plate is inked up and then the artist removes or adds ink with fingers, brushes, cloth, ear-buds, or just about anything really. A sheet of paper is then placed over the image and run through the press (or in this case hand burnished). Only one print can be made, and as such is a unique work of art.
The second photo shows what the image could look like framed with a mat.
The print will fit inside a 12″x16″ frame or you can cut down to fit another.
