A few of the things I’ve been working on lately.

Here’s a quick video showing some of the projects I’ve been working on over the last few months. They are in various stages of completion, and I will be posting more in-progress images and video’s for anyone that’s interested.

These are made out of any or all of the following mediums; paper mache, paper clay (my own handmade), polymer clay, recycled paper, glue, acrylic and watercolor paints, decoupage (my own images), resin, satin and gloss urethane varnishes. It’s an enjoyable process, but rather time consuming since there is so much “drying time” at various stages. That’s why I work with many projects on the go at the same time.

Most of the objects are going to be jewelry/trinket dishes or essential oil holders with a unique, often rustic appearance, inspired by nature and fantasy for the most part. The essential oil holders are small and designed to hold a cotton wool ball that can have a few drops of fragrant essential oil placed on to it. They make great room fresheners.

I will be selling these, but haven’t yet decided if it will be here, a dedicated website, or on Etsy. I have grown increasingly disillusioned with Etsy over the last couple years, and it’s just getting worse. For anyone that is not familiar with the site it has gone from a wonderful place for artisans to sell their handmade goods, to nothing short of a haven for trademark infringers, content thieves, and drop-shipped c**p from Asian countries. On top of that Etsy’s increasing range of “hidden” fees, an out of control algorithm, constant tweaking from developers, and the whole experience becomes draining rather than enjoyable. Case in point: When I last searched for the word Disney on the platform I had over 1 million listings found. You cannot tell me that every one of those sellers has been authorized by Disney to sell their trademarked property. And soooo many so called “handmade” items that when a reverse image search is performed you will find that $30 trinket selling for $2 on the likes of TEMU and AliExpress. Okay, rant over….
