Loon

I’m pretty sure my first experience of hearing loons in the wild was on Smoke Lake in Algonquin Park, Ontario, in the 1980’s. It was the crack of dawn and a light mist was rising off the lake (I assume that’s where it derived its name?). They have a beautiful call.
