And finally a successful photopolymer gravure print from my own photo of “Red Rock Canyon, Nevada”. Printed on Strathmore Bristol Smooth paper. Image is centered on an 8″x10″ sheet, using Akua Intaglio inks…. Second image shows a detail and third the plate inked up prior to printing on my press. Continuing my experimenting with photopolymer printing over the last couple of months I now seem to have found the perfect technique to produce a decent image. I was having a lot of problems with the aquatint screen not making full contact with the p/p plate which resulted in white patches on the final print. The photo-frame glass I was using on top just wasn’t working, and after much searching I was able to find a place to cut a 3/8″ thick piece of plate glass to size for me.
